Television Centre Plot E

The Television Centre Redevelopment masterplan 2014 at White City was granted unanimous planning permission. The masterplan by AHMM Architects re-imagines the original scheme designed by Graham Dawbarn. ‘The Question Mark’ is defined by a series of concentric elements, radiating outwards from the central inner ring with Helios at its centre.

dRMM were commissioned by Stanhope PLC to design a residential scheme for the site of the former BBC drama block, a workshop building where the production scenery was made. Our scheme develops an outline scheme addressing the concerns of the residents of Frithville Gardens. dRMM have optimized aspect and daylight to the apartments whilst increasing the unit numbers. The detailed proposal for Plot E comprises 180-unit residential building – a radiating E-shaped form with a row of townhouses to the south. Dwellings are arranged around two inter-linked green courtyards providing sunlit, shared amenity spaces at the heart of the development.

All apartments enjoy private amenity space through balconies, roof-terraces and pocket gardens. dRMM’s aspiration was to create a new community, a place where people wanted to live and grow.
