The mixed-use first phase of the Battersea Power Station regeneration, designed by dRMM and Simpson Haugh Partners, is due to complete in spring 2017.
dRMM have created an articulated gold copper clad apartment building, formed from a series of stacked apartments that shift in response to the curve of the railway.
In contrast Simpson Haugh and Partners have designed a crystalline mixed-use building featuring residential units, restaurants, bars, a community theatre and office space.
The two distinct buildings form a central courtyard designed by landscape designers LDA Design.
The first phase of the Battersea Power Station regeneration attracted significant publicity after going on sale January 2013.
Rafael Viñoly, master planner for the site, said: ‘Both architects demonstrated a bold design approach whilst remaining commercially realistic and understanding of the original vision.’
Battersea Power Station Development Company have announced the first new shops, restaurants and cafés moving into Circus West. The first phase is expected to open in spring 2017.
